Dream folk from Florida’s first coast. Dizzy nostalgia.

Johanna Warren's music has always existed in its own world — intimate, expansive, and quietly transformative. Across six acclaimed albums, she's built a body of work that blurs the lines between folk, indie rock, experimental, and psychedelic, earning praise from Rolling Stone, NPR, Pitchfork, and The New York Times.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Warren spent years on the road — touring alongside Mitski, Iron & Wine, and Julie Byrne — before eventually settling in rural Wales, where she now forages wild plants, practices herbalism, and makes music on her own terms. Her records have always followed their own logic: Gemini I & II (Carpark/Wax Nine) explored a turbulent relationship through an occult lens; Chaotic Good pushed into grungier, self-produced territory; and Lessons for Mutants (2022) found her at her most searching and uncompromising.

Her work extends well beyond the recording studio. She co-directed the video for “Twisted,” which won Best Music Video at the Portland Film Festival, voiced a character on Netflix’s The Midnight Gospel, and composed and starred in a theatrical adaptation of Euripides’ The Bacchae, developed at Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies and the University of Bristol. Whatever form it takes, Warren makes art like her life depends on it.

— NPR
“A luminous folk fantasia.”
